Frequently Asked Questions

What are your opening hours?

Opening hours vary depending on our training diary.

We open at 10:30am Tuesday to Saturday but it's always best to check first by giving us a call or drop us a message on:  07748 244959

How do I become a PADI Professional?

We offer all the courses in-house to get you up to professional level and in preparation for your Instructor Examination (IE).

Please contact us for more information about the PADI professional ladder.

Are there age restrictions for diving courses?

Our courses are open to participants aged 10 and above, with some restrictions for younger divers based on course requirements.  There is no upper age limit!

The Bubblemaker experience is open to participants aged 8-10 years. This is an introduction to scuba and teaches basic scuba skills (with some fun thrown in!)

We are an Approved Youth Training Centre.

What equipment do I need to start my scuba diving training?

We provide all necessary scuba gear for our courses, but having your own mask and snorkel is recommended for a better fit.

How long does it take to get certified?

Not long at all!  You will have theory to complete via e-learning, then up to 5 pool sessions (most students complete in 3-4).  Our pool sessions are held on Saturday afternoons, although we can offer Wednesday evening as an alternative (please enquire about this option if you're interested).  Then there are 2 sessions at the open water training site.  We use Capernwray Quarry near Carnforth.

Can I learn to dive if I have a disability?

Yes you can!  Our Instructors are trained in adaptive techniques and will work with you and adapt the training to ensure you get the best experience.

I got my certification a while ago but haven't dived for a long time. What can I do?

You can Reactivate your certification with a PADI Reactivate course.  It involves a refresh on your theory, via e-learning, then a session in our pool with a PADI Elite Instructor, then you're good to go again.

Do you cater for groups?

Yes, we welcome all groups and have worked with Scouts and Guides as well as schools, colleges and businesses.

Contact us for more information about our group training rates.

Do you offer air fills and equipment servicing?

Yes.  We have an on-site compressor for air fills.

We offer a quick turnaround cylinder and equipment testing service.

Do you have a members club?

Once you've come through any type of training with us, you'll be invited to join our private Facebook group page where you'll hook up with other divers that are part of Marina Scuba School.  This is where you will see any upcoming trips and excursions - not just organised by us but by divers themselves.  Any socials such as Christmas drinks and summer BBQs can be found here as part of our diving community.
